Conxita Badia o l’alegria

Conxita Badia i Millàs (1897-1975) was one of the most outstanding sopranos of the 20th century. The Barcelona singer and pianist played a fundamental role in the Catalan and Spanish-American music scene of the time: she was the favorite performer of the best contemporary composers, who often dedicated pieces to her, and also the teacher of great singers, such as Montserrat Caballé. On the occasion of the Conxita Badia Year, soprano Maria Bañeras and pianist Alícia Daufí want to pay tribute to her with a program made up of some of the most significant songs of her career, with works by E. Granados, P. Casals, E. Toldrà, C. Guastavino, M. Falla, J. Nin-Culmell or X. Gols.

The duo, born in 2024 within the master’s degree in Lied “Victoria de los Ángeles” (ESMUC), has offered concerts in venues such as Sala 4 of L'Auditori, the Paranimph of the Universitat de Barcelona, the Ateneu Barcelonès, Casa Elizalde, the church of Santa Anna, the Olot Auditorium, the Goethe Institut or the Museu Marès, among others. Recently, they have performed at the Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau as LIFE New Artist at LIFE Victoria Barcelona and at Palazzo Corsini (Florence) as part of the Lied the Way Festival 2025.

Conxita Badia o l’alegria; perquè ella sent al cantar una alegria tan intensa que és impossible no participar d’ella a l’escoltar-la.
